THE VISION

Building on Baltimore’s Industrial Legacy

From Hampden’s mills to Woodberry’s factories to Greenmount West’s warehouses, makers and manufacturers have transformed abandoned industrial spaces into thriving hubs. Machine Works is the next chapter in that story.

Reclaiming the Past, Creating the Future

At 508 Preston Street, the historic Detrick & Harvey machine works is being reactivated as a modern hub for innovators. More than restoring a building, this project reclaims industrial heritage and channels it into today’s creative economy.

A Mission-Aligned Investment

Machine Works extends the proven success of Baltimore’s creative sector into Johnston Square—sparking economic vitality, fostering community, and celebrating the area’s industrial roots.

Anchored in Partnership

This project is part of the $200M Johnston Square revitalization effort, led in collaboration with Rebuild Metro, the Johnston Square community, and MCB Real Estate. Together, we’re building not just space, but opportunity.

Machine Works is more than a building. It’s a movement rooted in Baltimore, built for the future.
